Re: The doctors surgery
Exactly...
Have relayed this one before,,, last sinus operation I had in Manchester, surgeon comes to see me after I've came round from op, asks me if I'd had any previous sinus operations, I say yip, three, I'm asked did they remove your sinus cartilage, yip last operation in Edinburgh a few years back, oh that's what we were gonna do today...
I'd had scans, cameras in me, discussed my previous operations with consultant umpteen times pre the op and but somehow they make to remove something I'd already had removed...
More recently I go for pre-op for knee surgery, all discussion is around my damaged right knee, letter comes from hospital about my operation on "Left" knee...
Really fills you with confidence...
Difficult times, thoughts with you and family Dermo...

Re: The doctors surgery
Hell to. Pay anyway. Jan went for hip replacement todau, bear in mind her spinal injuries she got herself quite worked up. Went in and got all ready for it, they did her stats and atemperature. " sorry we cant do you may have an infection". Fair enough but give it a few mins and do again she has been very stressed over this. Ok, they did again, its come down, " sorry, it has come down but still high, you will have to go home". She has been very stressed and possibly has psychogeneic fever, nah sent her to her doctors. Doctor does test, temp ok, no sign of infection. She is so friggin upset, they said be about four weeks, nah, i called and said someone should have waited thirty mins and given her a slieght sedation to see if Psychogenic shock please tell me top of list as no fever and temp is fine. Try get her in next week, she cant wAlk more than 10 metres poor woman.

Re: The doctors surgery
Big arguments in UK at the moment about NHS going full 24/7 365,,, I have mixed views...
View 1...
I liked my weekend off although I had very few, overtime pay rate for working Saturdays and Sundays so worked as many as offered, so should weekend working be forced on NHS staff...
View 2...
Lots of business need to operate 24/7 365 like industry I worked in later in in life, way I worked it, you take the job on on these terms and conditions, but will be flexible with weekend working, you don't want to work get a workmate who does to cover your shift, I don't care who gets the enhanced pay rate,,, then the Working Time Directive came along and screwed up the flexibility, oh, tachograph rules done that for drivers years earlier...
Conclusion...
NHS needs to be 24/7 365,,, flexible approach to it, no need for day to day routines but for emergency stuff yes...
If pubs, restaurants, corner shops, busses etc can be 24/7, something like the NHS must provid essential 24/7 services...

Re: The doctors surgery
Talking about deaf, Jim went to doctors last week because he was deaf, they gave him drops and told him to come back for them to be syringed. He went after 4 days and they cleared one but couldn´t do the other. Gave him more drops, said come back on Monday (yesterday) and tried again. Still couldn´t clear it so said he needed a specialist. Thought that would be weeks but no - his appointment was 10.00 this morning. Straight in, got the tweezers inside his ear, cleared a load of muck then gave him 2 more appointments. One to make sure it is still clear in early Sept. and as soon as he has had that one they booked a hearing test - all on the same day to save going backwards and forwards the 1/2 mile down the road to the Mojon.

Mermaid's gone to the doctors. She's got a rash all over her arms down to her hands, more like small, dry blisters really and she says are hands are numb and the skin is tight. I have to stay here in case our luggage arrives.

Luggage arrived so picked her up from Docs, she's got more pills and creams you could shake a stick at! Seems she's allergic to something in the sun tan lotion...

Re: The doctors surgery
I'm scared for life I was putting some trim on that sits behind a rubber with a flat blade
i was thinking if this slips i will stab myself in the face, so it did and i did , slashed myself from eye socket right up my forehead, blox and i had to be somewhere 15 minutes later, so i found the biggest plaster going and pulled my face together and off i went, I could tell blood was running down my face but i have had worse, person i met strangely didnt say anything at first, business concluded and then he asked what happened to your face
I said i had trouble with the decorator and i didnt notice he was wearing a ring
I left it at that, if he turns up at mine will be interesting
