Mmmm...I'm getting worried now. My urine is a funny dark colour. That "side of my back" may be my kidney. I'm getting an emergency appointment tomorrow, stuff this. The doctors surgery - Page 9 3913804730

Kidney infection most like. I've had two of them. Nothing will get rid of the pain except antibiotics ( and only ones specially for kidney infections). Keep taking the ibuprofen, they'll dull the pain and put at hot water bottle against your lower back. The antibiotics will get rid of the pain in 12 to 24 hours. I feel for you Cam, its a horrible affliction.

Sounds like a kidney infection, need to check to see if you have kidney stones, the discoloured urine could be due to not drinking enough water. If you have an infection you need to make sure the urine is diluted to prevent more pain, so get it checked out as antibiotics will quickly cure a kidney infection but believe me stones are not nice and very very painful.

I've got an appointment on 20th December to discuss the results of my blood tests which I had because of the discolouration around my eyes. I'll see if they can give me everything at once tomorrow.

Been at Doc's. Urine was clearer today, (still darker than normal), he reckons I've had a small kidney stone which he thinks has passed since I didn't take any more Ibuprofen since 8pm last night and I haven't had any more pain. I've got a 10 day course of anti-biotic (Trimethoprim, for all the apprentice docs out there The doctors surgery - Page 9 3025408739 ), plus he has given me 3 months worth of Iron tablets (Ferrous Fumarate) to raise the iron levels in my blood. He also says my Thyroid levels are borderline...I'm just a feckin' mess really The doctors surgery - Page 9 3025408739

When he said Thyroid levels borderline, did he mean under or over active? You must be hypo cos you can eat whatever you want and not put on an ounce The doctors surgery - Page 9 506932706

I think if you had passed a kidney stone you wouldn´t be sitting there telling us about it you would be flat on your back, the pain is horrendous. Still it is good to hear that everything is OK(ish)
