Adam Mint wrote:FFS, hospitals, pen feckin pushers, etc,,, as said Annies dad died 07:20 Saturday morning, she was at his bedside in the hospital at the time, she asks whats the procedure now, she's told his body would be kept at the hospital untill the appropriate paperwork was sorted out and that wouldent happen over the weekend,,, so she phones this morning, first appointment she can get with the person who deals with the paperwork,,, Thursday afternoon...
So she still contacts the undertaker she intends to use to get proceedings started, they won't do a thing without a death certificate,,, now I don't know how it works in England but when my dad died up in Scotland I got a piece of paper from the hospital then still had to go to Register House to register the death and get the death certificate, so expect that's what Annie will be doing Friday...
What a faf around, old guy was 82, had been in and out of hospital for months before his death, the hospital assist in the process by switching off the oxygen,,, no suspicious circumstances, so why not at time of death issue the paperwork to allow the funeral planning to proceed, but no it's got to be dragged out for another week...

Bad news. Mum is back in the Hospital again. Septocaemia and something else. Cousin says hospital wants to know should they re-sus if something happens. I left the ball in her court, she is local and knows 20 times more about this sort of stuff than I do. Personally I think they should ask the patient but to be fair it looks like shes just giving up to me. And its not me who finds it too painfull to try to stand up and move around. The doctors surgery - Page 33 3561243520  Shes 22 years older than me and I'm catching up fast. Sobering thought. Pass the sherry and vodka dear...........

I hate hospitals. Luckily this ones 200 miles away. Will probably go over the weekend not sure yet. Still got a cold with runny nose so probably not advisable anyway. She wouldnt want this germ!

We were told hospital staff wouldn't  resuscitation after brain test showed no function. I'mean inclined to think  that if a patient isn't in a position to  voice an opinion, and the staff are asking family whether they should resuscitation or not, then the medical staff are already thinking that they shouldn't.  Don't know if this is the case here. Can your mum talk etc Vince ?

Annie been funeral place today finalising arrangements, so tonight we get speaking about her dad and his poetry (some of which will be read at funeral) and his painting...

She comes out with this story that I'd never heard before, her dad in his youth had basically been sent from Ireland to Manchester to send back money for the six younger brothers and two sisters..

He's living in digs in Levenshulme with this young kid called George Best...

Some years later when Best made it, he paints a picture of him scoring a goal on a bit of hardboard...

Years later married, neighbour who's having a bit of a domestic husband smashes glass in the front door, wife comes and asks Annies mum, her husband being a joiner does she have a piece of wood to cover the hole...

Need I say more,,, still a sore point till the end seemingly...
