A larder is not a fat Texan, its somewhere you keep fresh food. New houses, not the sort you plebs can afford, are being built with north facing larders off the kitchen. The main benefit to this is it makes more room for beer in the fridge. I of course have one, it has a thick slate top which stays cold to keep food fresh. Sadly I replaced the open grill with a window some years ago.
