Re: What are you doing today??
Back to work today. Just back in from council offices where I have had my mugshot taken for my bus-pass. Free travel anywhere in Scotland! Reg and Vince are paying for it...

Re: What are you doing today??
Well if you do ever buy a barbecue a couple of tips:-
a. Use fire lighters not the fluid to get it started, fluid tastes the food in my opinion...
b. Only ever used the above mentioned fluid once, followed the instructions, squirt all over coals, leave for five minutes to soak in, then light, I scrunched up a piece of paper and placed under the coals to make it easier to light, as I'm placing the piece of paper under the coals I notice there is a bit of a puddle of lighter fluid that's has not soaked in to coals in the borttom of the barbecue, anyways I light the piece of paper at arms length as I'm expecting the BBQ to burst in to flames but no, the flames about two/three inches high just spread slowly from coal to coal around the BBQ, I'm sitting sipping my beer thinking them flames from the lighter fluid will soon die down and I give the coals about a hour to get really hot pre starting cooking,,, Wrong, next thing WOOSH,,, intense flames the two and a half foot diameter of the BBQ and six foot in length are raging skyward,,, the Spanish woman next door is giving it big over the balcony/terrace wall, don't know what she was saying but other half is making a pretty good job of interpreting as she's giving me it big as well,,, she wants to throw a bucket of water over the BBQ, I say no, flames are doing no harm just going straight up in to the sky, although I've gotta say it did look a bit dramatic,,, after about three/four minutes the flames died down and normality was returned... I recon what happend; I lit coals, the coals are warming up nicely, but they are also heating the puddle of lighter fuel in the bottom of the BBQ, fluid reaches its flash point temperature and WOOSH I've invented the rocket engine... And worse than all that,,, even after leaving the coals a hour to get really hot the food had a paraffin tinged taste to it...
So remember Reg, fire lighters not fluid...
Informative forum this, innit...

Most people have a perfectly adequate cooker about 5 yards from that barbeque......

Re: What are you doing today??
And today Mathew I watching the telly, ribs still giving me shit so on the medicinal wine,,, Annie on other hand is in party/holiday mode, it's her mates birthday today so she's and a few other girls round her mates doing some wine sampling..........
Then Tuesday three off them, Annie, her mate and Annie's oldest daughter dissapears to Benidorm for a week,,, oh dear...
Annie's mate is mid age difference between Annie and her daughter so they are all mates, was initially Annie's mate and daughter that we're going, Annie saying she was sick of going to Benidorm so didn't book with them, then at another wine sampling night they find cheap flights for Annie and she's going, flights are same days but not times, original two are booked in to a hotel/apartment room and plan is Annie joins them FOC...
I predict a lot of wine sampling...

Re: What are you doing today??
Got a bed on a ward at 7pm this evening. Brother and myself called in to him this afternoon. Mentally he was gone awol. Thought a hand sanitiser was a coffee machine. Thought a neighbour that has been dead for 15 years was standing at end of trolley. He has a fractured and dislocated hip. Will be operated on next week. It would be just as well if he went to sleep and didn't wake up. He wet the bedding on the trolley today and when we walked in he was naked from waist down with curtain of cubicle pulled back. I went feckin' ape shit. I can't go back in there to see him like that.Adam Mint wrote:What's update on your dad...

Re: What are you doing today??
Know what your saying, my mum with cancer was dead a year before she died, Annie's dad more recently even knew at times himself he wasn't having a life and said he just wanted to die, my dad at the age of 82 dying of cancer would still have won pub quiz,,, hospital visits were very difficult both of us knowing it was only a mater of time until he was gone,,, think it's best sometime times they don't know...
Difficult times again for you...

Re: What are you doing today??
And in the next bed will be some call centre getting the full treatment because the doctor is a call centre,
Also 20 round the bed when it says no more than 2 visitors at a time, I don't make this up I have seen it more than once,
The reason the NHS is feked is because it is over stretched with non paying hangers on, Dermot I hope it ends quickly
Who set Me offf already
