Fox racing wheels they were, not Wolf. Think my brains turning to mush.Perfectspecimen wrote:Been to Buckinghamshire today to get a set of Wolf racing wheels. Right posh it is. Nice wheels as well! Collected yet another VW Polo from Luton on the way back towing it with the a-frame, no trailer board at the back either and cop pulls up beside me at roundabout on the A1. Never looked twice. Autotrader are doing a thing where you can sell your car for free if its less than a grand. Brill, first ones on, two more to go.
Decided to road test old VW T3 Devon camper thats been sat in my yard since January, the one I got from Glasgow. Anyway I had the head off it and got injector pump repaired by specialist guy but it was still smoking worse than me so I got Patsy to follow me in case it died or the turbo blew or something but after a couple of miles it stopped smoking. To be fair I cant really fault it, drives like a Volkswagen. Throttle cable frayed I think and front brakes binding a bit but hell, its been sat for 7 years. Busfest in 3 weeks so I might try and sell my VWLT Mk1 camper there. I like its little brother, its quiet and I can steer it with one hand!

Waiting on Mermaid getting up so she can phone the doctors for an appointment for me, I'd do it myself but I'm a pushover and they'd tell me to come back in 3 months...

As from today its illegal to talk about P,ikey scum on social media unless of course you have something nice to say about them. I dont. I dont have nice thoughts about Norfolk Police either. No arrests? Jeez. In 18 months time they can be deported. Bring it on!Adam Mint wrote:Was Vince out for a pint last night...

Re: What are you doing today??
Still working under the Skoda Octavia. At last I have got the old wishbone off. One of the bolts was mega tight. Said it before I am getting too old for this malarky. Got Jack to try when he got home from work, he couldnt even move it at all. Ended up jacking it 2 foot up in the air in the end so I could get a pole on the end of ratchet. Wheel bolts needed same pole too as it happens. Fecking air tools, want banning!

Yip, air feckin tools dangerous in eejits hands,,, I get a puncture, mangled wheel wrench trying to loosen wheel nuts, ended calling the AA, so got myself one of them power bars as in picture and an impact socket,,, no problems with punctures after that...

And about using poles,,, when I worked on big marine engines big end bolts were about 18" long by inch and a half diameter, you tightened them to a streached length, meaning you micrometered their length then tightened them until they were 50 thousands of an inch longer or so,,, Inch drive sockets, t-bars and eight foot of scaffolding pole and three guys swinging on it to stretch the bolt,,, t-bar broke doing it once, three of us all over engine room,,, flesh and hard metal engine room don't do well together,,, ouch...

Re: What are you doing today??
Below bicture is sorta bit of kit we used to decide if it was tight enough...
We had some weird bits of kit, on one type of engine the four cylinder head nuts were tightened by hand, head studs were streached by hydraulic jacks, 8000psi, and nuts screwed down by hand then pressure released...
Then we had to take the flywheel of a big engine, we hire torque wrench from engine manufacturer, it arrived in a box bigger than a coffin...
