Mermaid's laptop is kaput!

I've just been on E-bay ordering a new battery charger for Mermaid's laptop. She was off-line for a wee while making the tea and whatnot and when she came back her lappy was blank! (Like switched off). Normally the charger is quite warm to the touch but this one wasn't, so I'm assuming it's the charger that's away and her battery is now flat.(I've changed the fuse but no difference).
I hope it's the charger and not the battery as the charger is only £6.88 whereas the battery is about £30.

Should come about Wed-Thursday.

Different, not pissed, see a Scotsman is a hoarder, so all old fuses get put back, therefore changing a fuse means putting one in that was previously dud elsewhere.

I'm getting worried now. Plugged charger back in and battery light is green, but lappy won't turn on. As soon as I press the power on switch then the battery light goes off. I have to take out charger and re-insert it for battery light to come back on again.

My printer does that, just keep turning the charger on and off at the wall switch works for that.

Can you swop battery to see if its that, ?

Don't have a spare battery to swap. Tried it with just mains power and battery out but no go.

yep, drop it and claim on home insurance...........

Just leave it plugged in overnight Cam, see if its better in the morning, and make it a nice hot water bottle.

I should imagine so, The charge go's through the battery before you can use mains which will be reduced to whatever it runs at, ie 6v or 12v, Dont suppose you have a matching charger, From yours or a phone, Make sure its same voltage though,

I'll try that and see what happens Vince. I don't hold out much hope though. I'm broken-hearted I've paid for a new charger and it probably doesn't need it!
