thanks Cru. I have left him in bed so I can come on his lappy. I am very upset. I am more concerned about my photos of Macie than anything else. I knew I should have stored them elsewhere. I am counting the hours to Monday so I can go and see the computer man. I am tempted to go to PC world and look for a new one. They have a repairs bit but I don't know if they would look at it today if I took it in. I played with my kindle last night which is a xmas present and went to bed early as I was not a happy bunny. I am climbing the walls today.

PC World staff would look at it, don't worry about photos because a good pc shop would be able to remove data to a cache wallet (can't remember tech name for it)

Mermaid - from what you have said the faults sound as if they lie with the electrics/motherboard so hard drive will be in-tacked so will you so photos so don't panic they are not lost for ever.

Don't have one BS.It seems it's in some sort of "protection mode"like the guy in TDs link said, 'cos as soon as I press the "On" button, battery light just goes off.
I can't be fecked with all the hassle of taking it to menders and sending bits away and whatnot. Maybe do what Cru says and get her a new one. I never liked her old one anyway with that crappy "vista" operating system! I'll get her a nice new one with Win7 in.

Good boy Cam, ask them to do you a deal at PC world that if you buy it they get the p[hoties extracted for free from old one. They should do it.

She's all chirpy again now I've told her I'll get her a new one.
