Criminal action brought against man who attacked burglar

Unbelievable! This bloke is being charged with criminal assault on the guy who burgled his house AND to top it all off, this scumbag has already successfully sued the homeowner and received 175000 from him! For what??????/ He gets paid 175000 for robbing a house for fucks sake! The world has gone mad!

Story

Incidently, the burglar got a suspended sentence for the robbery. Ah well, thats a nice ending isn't it?

We had a very similar case about 7 years ago. Elderly farmer living on his own. A traveller and his son were snooping around the farmhouse looking into windows and sheds. Some altercation happened and the farmer shot the older one. Then put another shot in him when he was lying on the ground. Farmer got 6 years for manslaughter but got out on a technicality after 6 months. Turned out, traveller had over 30 convictions for aggrevated burgalry that only came to light after the case was heard ( inadmissable in court). I'd say 90% of the people here had sided with the farmer BEFORE they knew about the previous convictions.

( Don't worry about insulting me Vince, all travellers are of Irish descent. Mind you, they think of themselves as different to gypsies)

During the 1990 Wolrd Cup, I told my folks i was going down to my local to watch one of the matches. I got hijacked on the way and ended up in Packie Bonner's local in Donegal. The TV cameras were there. Ireland scored and everyone jumped up celebrating except me and my mate. I wasn't supposed to be there and he had called in sick from work. We were afraid the TV cameras would catch us!

I'll tell you another story about Packie Bonner. My friend was good friends with Stev Staunton and at the 1994 world cup in America, Staunton brought my mate in to the after world cup party that the Irish team were having. Ray Houghton, Packie Bonner, Staunton and my mate and their girlfriends/wives were sitting around a table. Houghton had a few beers on him. He leaned across the table and shouted over the noise to Bonner, " Well Packie, how does it feel to get us knocked out of 2 world cups?" Bonner took a swing at him and they had to be seperated. Brave man saying that to Bonner who was 6 inches taller than Houghton!

Update on the origianl story. Householder was cleared of assault. Don't know why it was ever brought to court though
