Cheers, same........................arguments on all sides, just for me and possibly some others on here just want to take the blame away from 99.9% of the soldiers.

I think it is brilliant and would love to see more serious stuff discussed in this way. It doesnt have to end nasty, posts dont have to be abusive leading to threads closed. What was nice was it was serious and it didn´t go off topic.

For all rights or wrongs of why they are out there on the first place, are you really at all surprised it happened it was always a possibility than some solider eventually would snap and take there own interpretation retribution/justice.

Thats very true. Its also true that no one should be surprised when soldiers are killed by IED's etc when the local population perceives the foreign forces as an invading army.

" local population perceives the foreign forces as an invading army." I don't think that was the case here.

Re: Rogue US soldier kills Afghans.
I can honestly say, having been on call for the Falklands was enough.....being on cold war Russian vessel watch was harrowing at times. Losing mates in Iraq whilst I was at home comfy. Missing family when away just on North sea, Arctic Circle exercises, very difficult.
What it must be like, chucked into a terror war zone, where the enemy have dug in. Where you really do miss loved ones, may have had a baby born why there. Having inferior weapons to protect yourself and colleagues. Having to kill people who you are un certain if they are true to the cause they have been forced to fight. Worried about every single step you take.
Not being able to go to your best mates funeral. Extreme temperatures.
I go stupid these days if I am away from Tenerife for more than 3 months.

Re: Rogue US soldier kills Afghans.
Here is a link to BBC Asia about the massacre in Afghanistan.
This was pre-meditated murder and nothing less...read this link and try to imagine the horror these people must be going through.
And people try to say the "poor boy" was under pressure and we don't understand what it's like to be out there...garbage,he's a Murderer.

Maybe murder with diminished responsibility. If he had a murderer tag on him he would have done it before now.

Re: Rogue US soldier kills Afghans.
I am not getting into what-aboutery.
This was an act of murder against civilians...full stop.
I find it amazing how people can shed tears for the soldiers killed last week yet try and justify this murderous act.
When the British army murdered 14 civilians in Derry the victims were made out to be the aggressors, just like some are trying to do know with these poor souls, yet 35 years later we have a tory goverment apologising for the act...and the same will happen over Britain and America's invasions in the Middle-East...History will judge them harshly,me thinks.

Helicopters overhead, people saying more than one soldier, working alongside special forces, 3 knee prints, American military officials say that the suspect ---- acted alone .... Or was he actually acting under orders, it would not be the first time that America has covered up after events.

I think the Army has has put in place it's own "exit plan ".
They burnt the qurans the other week and now this.May be hoping the Afganies will kick them out before Obalma's date for combat withdrawal by the end of 2014 saving three years in country.
Just a thought

We dont know what happened, We wasnt there, None of us, So saying this that and the other wont change anything,
Its a war zone people get killed, We shouldnt be there, But poodle Blair couldnt say no, Hope he sleeps well in one of his properties, I wouldnt swop places, So no good anybody finger pointing, Its a blady shambles, And its sad about all the killings, But it wont help stirring up trouble,
