    Regional Stereotypes Empty Regional Stereotypes

    Post by Gypsy Sat 14 Jul 2012 - 10:52

I was reading a forum this morning (no none of those a Spanish one) that was on about how the Spanish see other Spaniards. e.g. Andaluces - very happy party people, always appear glad to see you. But any promises made one day are normally forgotten by the next day. Catalanes - Very tight with their money, but very astute in financial subjects

We couldn´t do that as I doubt we know the Spanish that well but what about regions in the UK. Before anyone gets upset (as if) these are just generalisations :puzzled:

    Scotland - Inebriated misers
Southerners - unfriendly and don't smile
The Welsh - clanish, deliberately speaking Welsh when an English person is present

    Northumbrians: very friendly & welcoming.
But would still like to keep our unspoilt rural county the secret it is so don't tell everybody it's the most unpopulated county in England.

Irish -I know a few and some are sound people, But a few bang on about the past and its bred into them about Religion and all that history blox, forget it, Yesterday and all that Religious crap wants to be in the bin, It dosent do anybody anygood so why bother,
So in answer to the question are we all the same on this island -No, Yorkshire people are perfect and the rest of you lot ? Well what can you say, Queer lot innit

I disagree with the Welsh comment. I have found them very friendly and they did not speak in welsh to annoy me. The Irish are very friendly and very welcoming and generous. The Scots folk, well as I am married to one I had better be careful. Some maybe are tight- fisted but most of the ones I have met are over generous.

Scousers (can I say that or is it racist?), Liverpudlians are supposed to have a quick sense of humour, but are also criticised for being wingers/moaners/complainers, or worse, light-fingered/thieves.

Mancunians with strong accents are referred to as 'Scallies' by other Mancunians and are considered to be rough, uneducated and liable to mug you!

Yeh, sounds good. Stick me on the list. Sometimes they pretend not to understand you but they can read ok. Since spending so much time in Tenerife I have learnt to understand all the British dialects, as long as theres no background noise anyway, lol, and have rarely found people I have disliked. Still a bit wary of those scousers though, tend to check the wallet pocket Regional Stereotypes 3025408739. Nowt wrong with Northerners then, call a spade a spade........
