Tenerife is the only island in the Canaries with two airports, one in the north and the other in the south. Los Rodeos (TFN) located in La Laguna in the north of the island, used mainly for inter-island and national connections with a total of 13 airlines and Reina Sofia (TFS) located in the south. This has the most air traffic, over 50 airlines operate from it and there are connections to many of the major cities in the world. It is one of the busiest airports in Spain, with almost 10 million passengers passing through a year. Both airports offer assistance for passengers with reduced mobility.
The majority of tourists are heading for the south of the island and use Tenerife South Airport. Other than car hire, alternative transport between the airports and the resorts is taxi, coach transfer or local bus.
