Patsy is enjoying her Bank Holiday day off. She suggested in bed this morning it would be nice to take the dog out for a nice long walk in woods or something. Fortunately its been raining all day. Playing with a dog in woods with wet balls is not my idea of fun.

Re: What are you doing today??
Yip, weather spoiled our pubs music festival, yesterday was just acceptable, but idiot here didn't put a jacket on cos it was sunny when I left to go, come about seven o'clock I was feeling it a bit, band that was on at the time weren't my taste so I disappeared to the local kebab shop, there was a BBQ on at the event, but I was freezing and the kebab shops like an oven inside with all the cooking they do, so fed and warmed up I returned, only had a couple of hours left to go as they have to stop it 9/10ish now due to noise complaints...
Today I looked at the weather forecast, mmmm, not good, wind and rain predicted for about six o'clock, so warm jumper and jacket on I set off, sure enough six o'clock it started raining, bands are all right as the stage is under a marque, but the punters are just in the open car park,,, not for long we wasn't, pub soon filled up, shame of it was the group that went down really well last year, The Pirates, were due to headline, guy who organised it contacted them to inform them of the weather, gave them the choice of whether they wanted to perform or not, they didn't, that said the weather didn't let up,,, so an early night,,, no, this is the pub we do the Monday Quiz in, quiz normally starts nine o'clock, so due to the music having to stop 9/10ish, the owner kept the quiz on, we won the picture round and came second in the main quiz,,, would still rather had sunshine and the bands knocking it out till silly o'clock...

Re: What are you doing today??
Fuming...
It was our Thursday quiz night a few hours ago (well on my planet), as have previously mentioned since the quiz master passed away teams take it in turn to set the quiz, girl from our team done it tonight, she set a question:-
At which sporting event do you not have to cross the finish line to win ?
After a bit thought I came up with an answer which the team agreed with so we put it on our paper,,, come the answers she gave a different answer, which yes, you don't have to cross the finish line to win, but we argued our answer was also correct, she would not accept this...
We drew the quiz due to the lack of the point, so it went to a tie break question...
Tie breaker question:- Smith is the most common surname in the UK, how many people in the UK have it, the other team were closer to the correct answer than us so won the free drinks,,, when she (the quiz mistress) returned to our table there was,,, mmmm, lets call it heated discussion over her rejection of our answer to the sports question...
I googled it when I got home and we were correct...
OK then, any attempts at both questions...

Re: What are you doing today??
Many sports you do not cross the winning line, Gymnastics, football, netball, hockey, Pole vault, just to name a few or do you mean score goals etc, very wide question that.
Smith I would say have, in the UK 867,000

We were also pissed off by our quiz last night. The lot that usually cheat had been caught out so last week we won by a stonking 9 points over them. Last night the quiz master reminded everyone no cheating, no using mobile phones in the break etc etc and bugger me as soon as we broke to get drinks in they were outside on their phones. Yes you guessed it won by 1 point .... sheer coincidence that they get all the questions in part 1 correct and those in part two just happen to be the ones they wrong !!!
Gonna give it a miss next week going for a meal instead.

Re: What are you doing today??
Cheats, we cant stand them, one night were sitting beside a regular team of two couples, they would occasionally win, we notice they are using their mobile phones like hell,,, come answer time, they congratulate each other on getting the answers correct, then the laugh of the night, the answer to one question is read out, one of them congratulate another saying "oh, you got that one right, and you didn't google it"...

That would drive me nuts. Should be a rule that mobiles have to turned off during the quiz.

Re: What are you doing today??
Had a quiz night in my pub once, for some army charity or something. One question was name the space craft that first landed men on the moon, so obviously I write down Apollo 11. When she gives out the answers she says Apollo 2, no amount of argument from anyone was going to change the thick cows mind. She wasnt asked back........
Personally I dont like cheating, I never look at the answers on the table next to mine....
