That happened my nephew's best pal. They sat beside each other in school all the way from 4 years old to University. The pal went out one Sunday night in Galway, got well tanked up and went for a leak near the rivers edge on his way home. His body was found near the Cliffs of Moher 2 weeks later. Nephew was never the same after. Took it badly, dropped out of college for a couple of years. I'll pretty much guarantee that we've all done it at some stage. I can remember ( vaguely) my BIL standing on the stone plinth of the railings having a piss in Sligo. The river below was a torrent and none of us tried to get him down. Stupid really. Alcohol and rivers don't mix. That copper is bang on though. How the feck are you meant to patrol rivers every night??

Yip 3rd like you say we've all done silly things when we're pissed, as I posted on here a bit back I vaulted over a wall separating the road from a railway line to go for a piss once, I knew where I was and expected the railway banking to be at the other side, but had chosen the wrong place to go over the wall, the banking had been cut away as the rail line was approaching a tunnel, went down twenty feet or so rather than the four I was expecting, but was lucky to a point,,, I landed in a gorse bush, ouch,,, but if it hadn't been for that, I don't know about dead but probably a broken bone or two, but should I expect the taxpayer to fork out to have a cop look after me when I'm drunk,,, I think not...
