I have notices up all over the place in my parent's house not to drive the car. Dad has no insurance and the car's NCT (MOT) expired last January. It turns out that my mum made him drive her down to the shops yesterday and the car conked out. A family friend spotted her sitting on her own in the broken down car while my dad had the resourcefulness to go off and find a mechanic to fix it. The friend rang my brother to tell him what happened ( we are lucky they are so well known and that they have such great friends and neighbours looking out for them, that we have reports coming back to us about what they get up to, )
To get to the car, they had to go by 3 notices explaining why the car can't be driven, so it's not like they forgot. They ( or more likely, she) willfully ignored them. Which brings me to the question, how do I disable the car? I can disconnect the battery ( or even take it out) but any mechanic will fix this. I've been toying with the idea of throwing a shovel of sand/coal dust into the fuel tank. The car is ten years old ( Toyota Corrolla) and to be honest, I don't care if what I do to it is unrepairable. I tried to get my insurance switched over, so I could drive his car and move it, but as it has no NCT, no insurance company will cover it. If we get it towed, the nearest place we can store it is 130 miles away ( Kerry). Any suggestions? ( needs to be something relatively simple as looking into an engine is like looking into a huge pot of spaghetti for me, all leads and pipes going everywhere)
