Great photos Dermo! Looks like you had the Kelpies to yourselves!   This is the tower on Calton Hill where the ball is raised and dropped down at one o' clock!

Is that called Nelson's tower?? I remember something about that when I was on Calton Hill last year. Think there is a load of flags that send messages to other ships ( not sure if its called semaphore or not).

I think it is Nelson's Tower. The big feckin' Parthenon thing next to it is called "Scotland's Shame". It's real name is The National Monument of Scotland and was built to commemorate the Scot tish soldiers and sailors who died during the Napoleonic wars. They ran out of money and the feckin' thing was never finished...

I feel very protective about Edinburgh!!

Is that what you call it?? we saw somewhere that it was called Edinburgh's Folly. I had a quick ggogle. I think its known by several names but all of them mean they fecked up by not finishing it.

It would be the usual...some feckin' minted rich git would propose a preposterously expensive monument to be built by public subscription. He'd get nominated as provost for his great idea and the poor townsfolk get fleeced by being made to pay so much out of their wages whch was nowhere near enough...tossers!
