I only took that photo cos I liked the faded look. re that pub, The Jolly Angler, it was more or less a pub opened in someones living room. You couldn't swing a cat in it. I liked it. . again, the people were very friendly, even the guy who couldn't understand why he was having trouble with his diabetes while ordering his 5th pint . The musicians were not too bad at all. i think they were just a group of pals who meet up to play. They played "I wish i was back home in Derry", though i don't think they knew the significance of it ( Google who wrote it). The barman's mum came in later on. Turns out she had a cottage over here ( or was that Mike harding??). Only one lager tap, Amstel, but it went down well. She was the only person I came across who could pull a pint properly. Don't know what the feck was going on, but I'd say, at least a quarter of a pint was slopped on each pour. They just keep pulling until they get the head the right size. Turn down the feckin gas a bit, thats allAdam Mint wrote:The building below was renovated approx twenty years back, the main building shown in Dermos picture was converted in to apartments, behind it the stables were converted in to offices, the advertising sign was not touched in any way during the renovation and remained faded, then about two years back they repainted the sign, nice and bright and fresh it was,,, well for a few months that was, then all the new paint fell off and it was back to the faded version that had been there for years,,, so much for modern products, personally I think the faded version suited the building better...
I met up with Dermo in a pub just round the corner from it as it was the closest to where Dermo was stayin, it's a pub I've been frequenting recently as they have live music, nobody's paid to play, people just arrive ad hoc with their instruments and have a sesition, talk in the pub one night was about a parking space for sale in Paradice Warf the said apartments, why the talk, the cost,,, £75,000...

This is the pub Jolly Angler . Minty insisted on me going home in his taxi on sunday night. I'm not joking, it would have been quicker to walk as there was a one way system. I was pissing meself laughing when I was telling Eileen. I measured it the next day. It was 167 steps from front door to front door. :rol on floor:Minty just wouldn't take no for an answer.
