Is it necessary to remove the towbar from an imported car prior to its first ITV for re-registration?

Anybody had any experience with this please?

Yes. In fact you need to remove anything at all that isnt bog standard, including wheels. You can get away with just removing the ball bit sometimes as long as nothing sticking out. Tie the electrics up underneath with some cable ties. They dont seem to worry about bald tyres. First ITV of an imported car 2419626307

If I were you I would get someone who speaks Spanish to take it. Mend it Autos in Guargacho took mine. They are still there.

Rushed between two parked cars one day to cross road, whacked shin off a tow hook, brought tears to my eyes it did...

First ITV of an imported car Empty Tow Bar

    Post by Silverfox67 Thu 22 Feb 2018 - 17:00

Happy days         First ITV of an imported car 4226408756

My car passed the ITV with no problems, even though they weighed and measured it to compare against the Certificate of Conformity.

So as long as you take the tow ball off there is no problem leaving the bracket & electrics in place (as long as nothing protrudes beyond the car bumper).

Just waiting for the plates now and I am on the road.  Many thanks for your posts.

    Cheers
