Re: Connemara
Great photos D! Me and Trish went to Clifden when we stayed in County Clare, we drove the Sky road as well...beautiful. Went up round Kylemore Abbey (what a view from the road across the lake) then on into Cong to see the "Quiet Man" town. Jeez, they're still milking that film 60 years later, the "Quiet Man " cafe, the "Quiet man" pub and so on. There was something called "The rising of the Waters" at Lough Mask and Lough Corrib, but I forget what that was all about. Beautiful countryside and coastline.

Re: Connemara
this is the "Quiet Man Bridge". We passed it on the way home but my camera had run out of batteries so this is a google image of it. Some American bought the "White O' Morn" cottage years ago, and let it fall into ruin. He won't allow anyone near it to repair/rebuild

Here's what it looks like now...
and what it used to look like...
You couldn't restore that now. It would just be a new build "copy", as it's too far gone.

Re: Connemara
Bassa. I like that movie even if it is a bit "Top o the morning". The fight scene is classic.

Re: Connemara
Cheers Dermot. I like the way they use the road for seating outside the pub.
And those yachts against the wall look a bit precarious.

Re: Connemara
Those keels must be strong to support the weight of the boats.

Re: Connemara
The one in the foreground on picture 6 is a McGregor 26. Not sure about the others.
You can get a Yorkshire Cobble but I've not come across a northern cockle sucker.
