Re: Wind farms
There is one just like that on the roof of the posh new harbour offices at Wisbech Marina. Owned by Fenland District Council. I noticed it had stopped turning about a year ago............Adam Mint wrote:It's the future... (Not)

Re: Wind farms
Lot of new builds in Manchester have one perched on the top off them, never see them rotating, probably a grant involved somewhere, FFS just build a decent power station or tidal power and give our eyesight a break...

Re: Wind farms
Waste of space, not only blots on the landscape but useless blots...
5276 of the useless things at the beginning of the year and more gong up daily, and for what, a mere 8% of our energy needs, one day, the 21 December 2013 to be exact they managed to knock out 17% for a period of time, the other 83% of our energy needs being provided by the conventional power stations that are running away in the background anyway as these feckin useless things are so unreliable...
Green energy my arse, political bullshit and brown paper envelopes more like...

Re: Wind farms
Now this makes more sense, tides very predictable unlike wind, plus no blot on the landscape...
Shetland tidal energy array
Allways thought they were flogging a dead horse with this one...
Bargain of the day

Re: Wind farms
As you are probably aware I am not a fan (no pun intended) of this type of power generation, but the size and output of these generators is impressive, plus so far offshore out of sight, still one slight problem, no wind, no electricity... You drive anywhere nowadays and these blots on the landscape are everywhere, and most of them stationary, two reasons, no wind, and, mainstream stations are having to run anyway cos these toys can't produce enough electricity so are switched off... Personally my preference is tidal, be it barrage or turbine, tides are predictable therefore a continuous supply can be maintained,,, therefore, the answer my friend is not blowing in the wind...
