You have to be in manual focus for shots like that. Even more complicated, you have to pre focus before you take the shot, so I had Trish hold a ruler upright in the bowl of water which I focused on first, (camera is on tripod), then when I dropped the strawberry I knew it would be in focus. You also need a fast shutter speed (as Reg kindly pointed out), something between 1/200 and 1/400 of a second. I also had a torch angled on a cushion pointing at the bowl to give more light as well. Feckin' complicated taking a picture of a strawberry! Oh, and I had a black jacket on a coathanger behind the bowl so there would be no background clutter!
I took my first practice night shot out the window last night...
...again this is on manual settings with the shutter open for 8 seconds.
