Problem sending PMs

I have just tried to send a PM to a couple of people who have been looking in regularly but not posting. I wanted to ask them if they could complete the poll so we had an idea of why they may not be joining in, but although my sent box is only 24% full I cannot send PMs and they seem to be sitting in the outbox. Can someone hazard a guess as to why this should be.

Err, silly question, Suppose you put a subject ?, I have done that more than once

Gypsy,until the member signs into the forum it will stay in the outbox. Unless they have their preferences to receive a email alerting them to the message they will not know there is a message. Try sending a E-mail instead that might be quicker

Received your PM, when I opened it there was no message, just what looked to be a copy of your “profile” page giving your personal data!



As well as posting this reply I have also sent the same message as a PM should it help test your system.





As to your question:



As I said in my original intro reply I am more of a reader than a poster, suspect I’ve just declared myself a “lurker”, but as someone previously posted (cannot recall who), one day lurkers will possibly dip their toe in the water.



I understand the move to tidy up “off topic” issues as it can sometimes be difficult to follow threads, but that said have no issue with off topic comments being made, it adds to the nature of the forum.



I feel to get more posters involved it’s a case of getting good threads started, I accept the name of the forum involves the word “fun”, but when a thread with an interesting topic is started that can raise discussion/opinion it’s good to watch it develop, such as the “Ferry Hijack” thread did.

Do another couple of posts Adam Mint, you need 5 to send PMs, then you should be OK.

Hi Adam,just wanted to say you have made some good valid points regarding our forum. It is great you have now started posting and i hope we can get some good topics for you to respond to.

OMG, I haven´t a clue what I am doing, I thought I deleted the mails that did not send out of my outbox. So while Adam I am glad you got something that made you post, I just hope you are not inundated as I pressed the send button several times LOL.

So going by what Mermaid said, I have just replied to a PM from Mischief M and it is still in the outbox, I guess that is because she is having her dinner and not on the forum.

Anyway thanks for commenting Adam, your views are appreciated.
