My side kick Pete had just 2 days off after a long stint on the trains, 1st day he nipped out for supplies, about an hour, when he got back there was a dog outside his front door,, Pete thought it was having a kip in the shade, nah 
it was dead, pete checked his collar and it had no number or address, he said it looked healthy apart from being dead, so he rang the RSPCA, no answer ? so he rang the police, no answer, so he loaded the dog into the car and drove to the police station, he rang their bell Yes thats what you have to do in the capital of the north, Woman answered, yes can i help, Pete said i have a dead dog, the woman said "And 
well what can i do with it, dunno she said, Pete said right i'll leave it here, you do she said i we will do you for littering WTF
So he then went to the i'm potless nesbit animal charity PDSA, he queued for over an hour (I would have launched it in the nearest skip by now) got to the front and the vet said right how can i help, Pete slams the dog on his desk and said i think this feckers dead, Oh said the vet lets see if its chipped, bleep yes it is, its an old english sheep dog from Scotland, Pete said i'm no expert but thats a Jack Russel the vet said do you think so , Feck me Pete thought,
Right the vet said i'll stick him in the fridge and if he isnt claimed in 2 weeks we will fire him up, Vet then asked for Petes detail, Pete could feel a bill coming on and took off
