Don't know if I've put this on here before but I really like a nice grained bit of polished wood. This is a photo of a wee chest thingy I picked up a couple of years ago made out of burr elm and oak with a couple of handles fitted. It stands about 2' high and 3' wide by 1' deep. Comes up beautiful with a nice wipe with teak oil!

Re: Solid wood furniture
That is a coincidence. my brother was only telling me during the week that he got a woodturner to make him something out of a tree that he cut down ( was half rotten ). Woodturner came back with 6 bowls. Brother doesn't use them, just likes looking at them

Re: Solid wood furniture
Very rustic Cam. I love proper wood too. Have to be careful its not that reconstituted stuff, sawdust stuck together with epoxy, like that 'oak' furniture they advertise on the tele. Have bought offcuts of mahogany, oak and elm in the past off a guy in Mansfield for peanuts, had to leave some as couldnt get it all on the trailer! Still got some left. Also bought some old walnut science lab desktops from an old school. Mostly 4'x2' and over an inch thick. Comes up a treat after removing the kids scribbles and chewing gum underneath. Still got about 10 of those left too. Ebay is my friend.......... Nearly all my furniture has come from there.

Rear cabin door, ex Walnut school desk.
Front cabin door, school desk and all the frame for this wheelhouse on the boat was made from offcut oak and mahogany.
