eBay purchase

I'm thinking of buying something off eBay and I've found it listed for sale "from Hong Kong".

It's less than £100 in value with free P+P.

The seller has got good feedback etc. so I'm very tempted to order it.

Just wondering whether anyone has ever bought anything from HK via eBay and more importantly, did HMRC hit you for any import duty ?

Sensible answers only please.

They seem to take ages to get here, so if you don't mind waiting anything up to a month or so.

We have not had any problems with the quality of the items at all

We have not had to pay any duty as none have been all that valuable

I have ordered stuff from far east, mainly small value elecrical stuff, an inverter a compass, all turned out ok. They write gift on the label to get round customs and it takes 10 days to arrive. What exactly are you buying Jimbo?

I bought a badminton raquet from Hong Kong on e-bay. Everything was fine, no duty either.

Use paypal and they'll cover you for losses anyway.

They can play well too, Was you hoping it would rub off on you, Have you tried squinting ?

My eyesight's bad enough without squinting!

Same as above Jim, haven't had any problems yet, they normally write "gift" on the parcel. And as LR says, Paypal will cover you if anything is wrong with the item ( though not if impounded by customs)

Jimbo they often send stuff from Honk Kong that I buy and it arrives 2-3 days later as they have storage in Belgium. This depends on what it is. We shop a lot from HK.

yep night Men........The duty is not a great deal if you get to pay it. somethings are not worth much more and the cost of postage should be considered.
