I'd be happy if they could just drive,,, yes it is difficult to communicate with most private hire (mini cab) drivers in Manchester, all they can say is postcode, and if you don't have the postcode of where you wanna go your fecked, got in one a bit back asked to go to a well known pub in town, I didn't know the post code and driver didn't know where pub was, I say head to Deansgate, the main street in Manchester city centre, he didn't even know where that was, ended up spoon feeding him directions...
But to get back to their driving abilities most of them can't,,, all over the road, ain't heard of lane discipline, stopping distances etc, I've had many an argument with then, recently I'm in one, we take a left turn, driver is distracted and has head fully turned to the right looking at a hotel entrance (your Ibis hotel Dermo), he's drifting across the road in to the path of a oncoming car, I alert him to this fact, he quickly pulls the car back on to our side of the the road, he says it ok I was just avoiding the pothole,,, bollocks, I saw no pot hole and had further words with him about it, I also checked next day when I pass the spot, there was no pot hole or signs of a repair,,, then just a couple of nights back I get in one, driver moves away with engine at no more than at tick over, we're just moving, engines labouring like hell and its in to second gear almost stalling the engine,,, it was like this with every gear, eventually were in top gear with engine at nothing more than tick over doing about 20mph,,, take it it was his idea of saving money on fuel...
