Re: Gerry Adams
Unfortunately, the price of peace is dealing with the likes of him. Plenty of others just as bad imo.

Re: Gerry Adams
Did I ever mention the IRA put a sawn off directly to my brother's head in 1980. Two coppers were killed and the 3 IRA fuckers were the last people to be sentenced to death in Ireland. Jim ( my brother) hit the booze pretty hard for the next number of years. Story here

Re: Gerry Adams
On the plus side, Jim had a banger of a mark I Escort. No handbrake. Lights came on when they wanted to. One wiper worked. It was stolen outside the High Court in Dublin during the trial. It was found down at the docks. The Dept of Justice were afraid it was a ploy by the IRA to intimidate witnesses, so they got the army to blow it up in case it was booby trapped . Jim had it insured for £400. The feckin thing was worth a tenner

Re: Gerry Adams
And the vast vast majority of Irish had nothing but respect and sympathy for the British, being bombed out of house and home. I could never get over how come so many English, in particular, used to come over here on holidays, even at the height of the shite in the north. I think they probably didn't want the IRA and all the other mad bassas to allow them to hate the Irish cos the the actions of a few. Always admired the Brits for that. Of course, you would get the odd wanker on both sides, but by and large, we would tread carefully until we got comfortable with each other. I remember 10 years ago, we were on hols in Gran Canaria. Met an English guy from Manchester. Eric Ogden was his name. there was a bit of dancing aboot for the first hour and then..... 2 weeks of mayhem feck me, but he was one of the funniest blokes I ever met. He had his 47th birthday there and that night about 3 in the morning, he ran along an entire floor of apartments ringing the doorbells. Was one of the best 2 weeks I ever had, laughed until my sides hurt. Then I came across you guys...................
I still miss Oggie.

Re: Gerry Adams
Ya, that was the 2nd time in 12 month that he was at the receiving end of an armed robbery. First time was in Dublin. Think I told Reg and Jan this story. Jim was held up in Dublin. My mother made me get down on my knees to say a novena to St Martin, who grants wishes apparently, for Jim to get a transfer. The idea is you pray for 8 nights andon the 9th day, you wish will come true. You then pray on the 9th night to thank Marty for his help. Well feck me, but didn;t the phone ring on the 9th morning. It was Jim, who had just got a transfer to that bank in Ballaghadereen. My mother was made up. I was 9 years old and even then i was thinking, 2God, if you're up there, you're a feckin' muppet"! Never forgave God for that.Adam Mint wrote:3rdforum wrote:Did I ever mention the IRA put a sawn off directly to my brother's head in 1980.
