Re: Cobh sculpture.
Really? I must have a look. I joined the ellis Island foundation or whatever its called years ago. Found my grandaunt's records from 1913. Think she was only about 16 when she went. It led me to checking my grandparents records from the online census library. Turns out my great grandfather married twice and my grandad was the only surviving child from the first marriage ( not sure but up to 3 children seem to have died, don't know what happened the first wife ). After my dad died, we were going through his things and found a notebook where he had written down details of his siblings and of us ( his sons) e.g. where we lived, where we were born who we were married to, names and dob's of our kids. We think he must have realised his memory was going and tried to record as much as possible. When he wrote about his own family, he wrote two names , Margaret and Michael, then in brackets deceased as children). we asked some of our aunts and uncles about this and they knew nothing so we thought that my dad was rambling. Then, my cousin did a bit of research and found the death records of the 2 children, one died at 10 months and the other 2 years. We never figured out how come my dad knew but no one else, or the fact that they were never told by my grandparents. Weird.
