We had a famous author/academic/journalist/politician called Conor Cruise O'Brien who broke the ultimate taboo and went from being a nationalist to being a unionist. To us , no matter which side of the political fence you are on, is the same as the pope becoming Protestant after having a sex change. Anyway, he said at one stage that "We should hand the country back to the Queen and apologise for the balls we made of it". Sometimes I wonder if he wasn't right!
If the Euro does go bust, what would the point be of people returning to the UK. Things there may well be just as bad as the rest of Europe ( indeed the world if things go tits up)
I think a lot of this "scaremongering" has a lot to do with Britain shining a light on the lack of political leadership in Europe which is driving the Euro crisis. Don't think the Euro will go bust, too mant countries including the UK, China and the US have vested interests in it's continuance and success. If the bum syrup really hits the fan, I would think the ECB will step in and quench the fires with a deluge of money.
