Would lay money on it being the best Xmas he will have had for a few years - I would have waited till January to bang him up.

that's exactly the time i am heading out tomorrow to do my last minute veg buying as OH will have just finished nightshift at the bank
i should have known that little tip actually as i worked nightshift in tesco during my uni days
