Ever since my little boy got tonsilitis in November, he won't eat hot food, even his favourite, curry chips. We think some hot food must have scalded his throat ( or at least it must have felt that way to him) but any ideas on how to get him eating again?

Do you mean hot as in curry hot or oven hot?

curry hot. He likes ( used to like ) hot/spicy foods.
Never mind the above, he won't eat any food that is even warm e'g' mashed potatoes, spag bol etc.

He's 3. I'm not on about spicy food Cru, its any food that has been heated like "normal" dinners. Whatever happened to him has put him off "cooked" food. We made him savoury mince yesterday ( something he used to devour) and he wouldn't touch it. Kept pointing to his mouth as if it was hurting him.

Shame, poor little mite, if he was on an antibiotic he may have a bit of thrush? just a thought. Or perhaps he has burnt the roof of his mouth (we all do that from time to time) Try him with jelly, custard and yoghurt etc until he feels like eating the usual stuff

Re: Little fella won't eat hot food
I have no suggestions as to how to help him get over it but I think you certainly MUST otherwise he will be one of those awkward people who spend the rest of their lives faffing about with food. My S.I.L. can't/wont drink anything hot, no tea, coffee, chocolate. It is a pain so perhaps you get him to the health visitor who may be able to suggest something.

Re: Little fella won't eat hot food
Use a safe temperature food like ready break and start cold with something nice mixed in,ie honey or golden syrup and get a bit warmer each day or even a little bit as he is eating it by making some at different temps and the transferring to another bowl remembering to move it round in the correct direction, not more than luke warm to begin.
