    Sick scam Empty Sick scam

    Post by Gypsy Sat 21 Jan 2012 - 10:15

I just received this email which looked as if it came from my brother in law - two things wrong with it though. He never calls himself David (although it is his name) and This message may be coming to you as a surprise too bloody true it is .... earlier this week we heard he died.

So somebody has hacked his email and is sending out this rubbish. See how some can be taken in, it is even asking for Canadian dollars and that is where he lived in Canada. Hope none of his really close relations get this it could be very upsetting.

    Hello,

This message may be coming to you as a surprise but I need your help.Few days back we made an unannounced vacation trip to London,UK. Everything was going fine until last night when we were mugged on our way back to the hotel. They Stole all our cash, credit cards and cellphone but thank God we still have our lives and passport. Another shocking is that the hotel manager has been unhelpful to us for reasons i don't know. I'm writing you from a local library cybercafe.

I've reported to the police and after writing down some statements that's the last i had from them.i contacted the consulate and all i keep hearing is they will get back to me. i need your help..i need you to help me out with a loan to settle my bills here so we can get back home, our return flight leaves soon. I'll refund the money as soon as i get back. All i need is $2,000 CAD...Let me know if you can get me the money then I tell you how to get it to me.

I'm freaked out at the moment!!

    Kind Regards,

    David

As said TD the email came from Canada, so I assume they hacked into his email and forwarded to people in his contact list. It would be sad if his sisters and brothers received it.

I had a similar one through live chat on Facebook once Gypsy. I kept them chatting as I knew full well my friend was not on holiday in Nigeria (she lives in Zambia) I tried to get as much info out of them as possible and copied and pasted it all and sent it to Facebook admin. Her account had clearly been hacked. I phoned her in Zambia and told her.

They were asking for money as she had supposedly had bag stolen with all documents and cash etc. Thing is they typed in broken english which was a dead give away. When I asked where her brothers were they avoided the question as I knew full well where they were living.

This is a good reason not to invite people you do not know onto your facebook....Sick scam 3707059870
