I have just read this little snipped in my mate Jack's Tenerife Magazine

The Anniversary of Santa Cruz as Capital of the Canary Islands
Ignore the fact that 190 years isn’t exactly a landmark number to celebrate. Ignore the fact that although the anniversary was celebrated on Monday, the date King Fernando VII decreed Santa Cruz de Tenerife to be capital of the Canary Islands was the 27th January 1822. What is really interesting is the politician who is recognised as being the driving force behind it happening – José Murphy. Tenerife increasingly looks to its Guanche past for its pride and character yet it was a son of two Dubliners who was responsible for Santa Cruz achieving status in the eyes of Spain

Paddy says to Mick – I’m ready for a holiday, only this year I’m going to do it a bit different.

3 years ago I went to Spain and Mary got pregnant.
2 years ago I went to Italy and Mary got pregnant.
Last year I went to TENERIFE and Mary got pregnant.

Mick asks – So what are you going to do this year?.

Paddy replies – I’m gunna take her with me!

Mcqueen’s statement reminded me of an incident that hit the headlines some years back.

A priest had fathered a child and had kept up an ongoing relationship with the mother for several years after while still carrying out his “professional” status.

It was big news at the time, I recall some cardinnal bloke or whatever (Irish) being interviewed on TV about the incident, he came out with a statement in respect of the priest being found out which I will never forget.

“But wasn’t it an immaculate confession”.

The fecker had been caught with his pants down so to speak, splashed all over the Sunday newspapers, TV etc, but it was good to see the “management” stuck by him...

Think it may have been Bishop Eamon Casey. He had a child with an American woman and she wrote a book about the affair ( lasted several years). News broke around 1992/3. Casey went to Central America on missionary work ( pun intended). He came out of hiding for the Ireland/Italy game in the 1994 world cup in Miami. The story goes that the biggest cheer of the day went up when one bloke spotted Casey trying to find his seat. Casey had his hands up shielding his eyes from the sun, trying to find the correct row. The bloke stands up and shouts "Dad, I'm over here"!! Crowd went into hysterics. Casey turned scarlet. Quick thinking by that bloke!!! It's down to the Irish 3077217049
