    Holidaymakers in the Spanish resort of Salou near Barcelona may be fined £300 if they go into the sea when red flags are flying. The authorities have taken this step because of a spate of drownings over the years...(oh, and Spain is skint and needs money, like UK).

    Smoking has been banned on some Canarian beaches. Distasteful innit, like fat people.
