A 42 year old British woman, named with the initials P.S.S. has suffered a serious accident when using a quad bike last Saturday in Altavista, Arona. It happened at 2,15pm when she was taking part in a guided excursion with several other people on quads.

When she was going right on a curve, downhill in Calle Real, she left the road and fell into an area of vegetation. An ambulance took her the emergency department at the Playa de las Americas Hospital.

She suffered wounds to several parts of her body and the hospital gave a reserved prognosis on her condition. When she was admitted she showed mobility problems in the extremities.
She was on holiday and staying in apartments in Costa Adeje. - http://www.typicallyspanish.com

I always think they look so dangerous when I see them on the road, half the riders are looking over their shoulders, chatting and not concentrating on what they are doing.

People think there so easy to ride and part of having fun on your hols, when there is always a possibility of things going wrong, Id put money on it that there will be more problems for the family when they find that her holiday insurance wont cover her for this activity. I think they always look dangerous, and a waste of time, not the comfort of a car, and nowhere near the thrill of a bike - waste of time. Think you are right about the insurance they will have it down as dangerous sport or some such.

Was on one of those things once. Didn't like it at all. If you gave it any kind of welly, it would try to do a wheelie. And as for going round corners, they're mental. They have a relatively high centre of gravity and can "roll" quite easily.
Hope the lady is all right.
