Portugal to "suspend" four Catholic public holidays for 5 years.

In a bid to get the economy moving, Portugal has been in talks with the Vatican about which 4 religious holidays to cut from the current 14. I wonder if Spain will go down this route as well...they have about 75 public holidays a year! (Well, it seems like it...)

Cut the whole lot...in fact while their at it throw the bassas out.

I think the "Irish" in America have made it into the massive commercialised event it has been this past 30 odd years.

Nationalise all churches. Use them as schools and hostels. Break up all the pews and give it away as firewood. Sell off church property and use the proceeds for counselling all the kids they abused. Lock the pope in with a gay masochistic rapist and let him feel the pain that he has aided and abetted over the last 25 years. Even now, he is silencing some of the few good priests over here because they have been critical of the way the Catholic Church has refused to help investigations into the abuse.

Hang on a second, not that I agree with Catholics coz I don't but you were having a big dig about us having a dig at Muslims. as was far less severe. Not all Catholics are child molesters in the same way that not all Muslims are terrorists.

I am not saying all Catholic lay people are child molesters...far from it.
But here in Ireland they have told certain priests that anything they write must be cleared by them,and if they don't like it the Vatican won't let it be published in the national papers...that has Fascistic tendencies all over it.
