After talking to CC on one of the threads about GAA football, it got me thinking. As most of you frequent Irish pubs when in Tenerife, have any of you actually watched a Gaelic football or hurling match? Hurling is the fastest ball sport in the world and Gaelic football is like soccer except you can use your hands and its played by men not poofs.

I sometimes watch the shinty Camanachd cup up here. Different code, but we usually entertain the Irish one year and then they will host us the following year. Both codes are played and usually the Irish win the Hurley and the Scots win the Shinty.

Re: Gaelic Games
"iománaíocht" is the Irish for hurling and a "Camán"is the Irish word for hurley. Still amazes me how similar the two dialects remain

Anyway, going back to the original question, hasn't anyone actually watched a Gaelic games match in Tenerife?? I find that hard to believe considering how much time ye spend in irish bars

I watched one in a pub near Mountshannon in County Clare a few years ago. Final between Kilkenny and Cork I think. The locals got all excited and I couldn't understand them as they were talking so fast! I really enjoyed it.

It was a draw Cam and they were arguing that both lost.
