The beach at Los Cristianos has never enjoyed the Blue Flag Award. In fact, it has been closed several times due to discharges of sewage. But Arona City Hall wants to end this bad image.

Councillor for Environment, Antonio Sosa, argues that "the quality of water in the Los Cristianos beach is good, as reflected in the analysis that is conducted every 15 days. The beach also has good accessibility and an effective surveillance and rescue service, so we believe meets the criteria for waving the blue flag on it, as already happens in the other two beaches, Las Vistas and El Camisón ".

The Blue Flag is granted by the European Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). In Tenerife besides the above mentioned, there are El Medano, La Tejita, Troya I and II, La Arena and Mesa del Mar.

This is really the local's beach. Most tourists go to Playa las Vistas. You can always tell the tourists on Los Cris beach though as they are the ones who fork out money for the sunbeds and parasols!
