Adeje Chicken
After everyone saying how great it is we went to the Buzanada branch on Friday to check it out. We had the honey and the garlic chicken. If you like burnt chicken its the place to go. No threat to the Colonel then. It was cheap so I will be kind and give it 4/10.

Now do you see why I don't eat when I'm over there?

The Adeje Chicken in Buzanada is a break-away branch no longer connected to the original in Adeje and when it opened it was lovely. My friend went over the weekend and ended up giving the chicken to the dogs, he said it was like eating crab sticks and he couldn´t tell whether it was chicken or fish, horrible. So keeping their prices down means they have to buy cheap to make any sort of profit but in this case they have done themselves no favours.

Best Chicken In Tenerife
When I lived in Adeje, I used to have roast chicken regularly with fries from a place run by an Italian family. The guys name was Fabricio but I don't know if they're still there.
It was adjacent to the school in Adeje town, just up from the hospital and post office.
They were very popular and would be surprised if they closed as they were always busy.
Does anyone know the name of it?

The only chicken places I know in Adeje are Otelo at the top of town, Oasis and Damary halfway up the town. My favourite is Otelo.

You mean here?
Nem, if you lived in Adeje, were you around when Cafe Antonia was there, just up from the Correos. I have had many a late night in there, very bohemian huge ashtrays everywhere, white piano in the corner all covered in graffiti and no menu just a board with half a dozen delectable items on it.

Yeh, on a corner and almost opposite the entrance to the school in Adeje.
It was just down from the main square where they always used to have the nativity statues set up during Christmas time.
Also next door to a local bar and just up from a new apartment block.
I used to call the guy Fabricio pollo and for just a few euros, it was one of the tastiest chicken and chips you could get.

Wow, brings back memories. Avenida Constitucion. Steep road and that restaurant was a place I never went to sadly but always had tourists.
I lived towards the bottom of Constitucion, past the playground area and close to the Chinese restaurant which was round the corner from the Pharmacia.

Here's the place I was talking about.
I was there every week, best chicken I ever tasted on the island.
Used to be run by a guy named Fabricio, don't know about now though.

The Chicken Shack
Went to the Chicken Shack in Puerto Santiago on our last visit. Have to say, the standards have dropped. The chicken was overdone and tough. Even my eldest lad, who would eat chicken morning, noon and night didn't like it. The first time we went there a couple of years ago, it was lovely. Don't think I will be returning any time soon.

There should also be a link to this, but clicking the link just says page not found, so I have copied from my Google Reader. Santiago Councillors In Chicken Shack Spat
from News In the Sun - News items provided by [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] by Mina Cogden Mar 1, 2012 4:39 PM
Relations between the PSOE and PP in Santiago del Teide have been strained to the limit as a result of measures to enforce local ordinances governing the use of public spaces outside bars and restaurants driven by deputy mayor and PSOE councillor Inocencio Doble.
PP councillor, Stephen McKenna, owner of the popular Chicken Shack restaurant, is the latest to fall foul of Doble’s push to legalize tables, chairs and awnings of bars, bazaars and restaurants which up to now have invaded public spaces without authorization in violation of the city ordinance already in place, an irregularity which has affected around a hundred companies locally.
Most were regularized in December. However, that was not the case with two businesses in Paseo Agustin Herrera, Puerto de Santiago, one of which is the Chicken Shack.
As a result, other local traders, who have been adversely affected by the imposition of the rules, have filed a complaint with the local police against Mr McKenna’s restaurant, which has a permanent, fixed awning in violation of the local ordinance.
Councillor Doble admitted there had been a complaint registered against the restaurant saying the fixed, non-collapsible awning impeded the access of emergency vehicles to several properties in the street.
The deputy mayor said the case would follow the same procedure as with other establishments in the area and that Mr McKenna had been given until next week to replace the offending awning.
Meanwhile, mayor Gorrín (PP) acknowledged that there is “conflict” with the PSOE on the regulations governing the private use of public spaces, but hoped that these “differences will be resolved.”
Gorrín admitted his fellow PP councillor, Mr McKenna and other local traders were not complying with the letter of the law but said terraces are where the business is, and to force them to put a folding awning up is a cost at a time of economic crisis, which could force some businesses to close
As a result, Mayor Gorrín announced his intention to amend the current ordinance to allow bars and restaurants to make use of public space, in exchange for a fee, at least as long as the economic downturn lasts.
Meanwhile, spokesman for the opposition CC party, Jonathan Fumero, confirmed that there was tension within the ranks of the ruling coalition but said those forced to comply with the ordinance in December of last year were, understandably, annoyed at what they see as double standards.
Fumero went on to say “the crisis is caused by trying to apply the ordinance overnight, removing tables and chairs indiscriminately.” Fumero proposed amending the ordinance “to better determine the criteria for occupation of public space, because the ordinance is loose and is subject to interpretation.”

Re: Best Chicken In Tenerife
Interesting reading Gypsy. I would have thought that the street is plenty wide enough for any emergency vehicle even with the awnings in place. It was certainly wide enough for the local chicos to play football there ( much to the consternation of the owner )
