normally a COMPLEX has a big dish somewhere (2.4m-3m)
this ´could´ lose all its BBC/ITV channels
if you have one of those aerial systems with 5 channels they get their signal from satellite as well so they ´could´lose them as well

I am very confused, I thought we were losing the signal in October, then November and now December. I suppose we just have to wait and see and make sure we don´t hand over €90

Currently 2F has a semi-major axis 107 km higher than geostationary so that means it is going slower. Geostationary is 3.0748km/sec, whereas 2F is currently 3.0697km/sec. Firing thrusters will cause it to fall to the lower orbit, possibly over 12 hours. That fall causes it to pick up speed so it is going at the correct speed when it arrives at geostationary altitude. Then it does another burn to circularize the orbit, rather than it oscillating between the 2 orbits. Anyway all this means it would arrive earlier, not later. But anyway all this is of no importance because the difference between the two orbital periods is only 6 minutes.

TRANSFER OF CHANNELS IS NORMALLY DONE IN THE EARLY HOURS OF THE MORNING
AND SINCE THERE ARE ONLY 20 UK PSB CHANNELS TO MOVE IT WILL BE DONE IN A SHORT SPACE OF TIME .ETA 48 HOURS - THIS COULD RESULT IN TOTAL LOSS OF CHANNELS IN TENERIFE
IF SKY CHANNELS ON THE EUROPE BEAM ARE MOVED IT COULD RESULT IN A 20% PERCENT DROP IN SIGNAL
(OK ON A 1M DISH) BUT COULD GIVE MORE SKY CHANNELS NOT SEEN BEFORE

SES’ ASTRA 2F SATELLITE STARTS OPERATIONS

    21.11.2012
    Share
Luxembourg – November 21, 2012 – SES S.A. (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that the ASTRA 2F satellite has successfully completed its in-orbit testing and is now fully operational and in commercial service at the orbital neighborhood of 28.2/28.5 degrees East. The 52nd SES satellite was successfully launched board an Ariane 5 rocket from Kourou, French Guiana, on September 28, 2012.
ASTRA 2F was built by Astrium in Toulouse using a Eurostar E3000 platform. The multi-mission satellite carries Ku-band and Ka-band payloads for the delivery of high-performance Direct-to-Home (DTH) and next generation broadband services in Europe and Africa. Of the spacecraft's payload, 48 Ku-band transponders cover Europe and 12 Ku-band transponders are dedicated to sub-Saharan Africa, while 3 Ka-band transponders will allow SES Broadband Services to support download speeds of up to 20 Mbps.
ASTRA 2F is part of a larger fleet replacement and expansion programme at the 28.2/28.5 degrees East neighborhood, consisting of ASTRA 2E, 2F and 2G, that provides replacement and growth capacity for the UK and Ireland as well as for other services in and outside of Europe. ASTRA 2E and ASTRA 2G, also under construction with Astrium, are scheduled for launch in 2013 and 2014 respectively.
