Terrible. Woman wants healthy dog put to sleep.

My vet has just phoned me, a lady has just walked in with a beautiful neutered Golden Labrador, hes about 2 years old and very healthy. The lady put some money on the counter and said put my dog to sleep. She said shes going back to the UK and cant take him with her, then she walked out. The vet is NOT putting a young healthy dog to sleep. He cant leave it in the clinic. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE is there someone who could foster the dog. He is really well behaved and very friendly. Thanks.

I think that is awful. If I could not take my dogs with me I would rather have them put to sleep than abandon them, have them end up in a rescue centre and not know what type of life they would have in the future. They could be taken on by someone who doesn´t care about them and if she has doted on the animal for 2 years then she will not want him to go somewhere where he does not get the same kind of treatment he is used to.

I really don´t think people (i.e. vet) should be playing God and deciding what is best for this persons pet. If she can´t afford to take the dog with her she must be struggling to have managed to put together the fee for the vet so it hasn´t been an easy option for her, she is IMO thinking about the animal. Yeah I know most will probably disagree with me but unless I could be assured the animal had an excellent home to go to I would probably do the same in her position.

The dog has already been rehomed

Vets have a duty of care Gypsy so he was just doing his job and obviously knew there was a good chance of it being rehomed. He is also our vet and he is simply brilliant!!

I would have made sure I had enough money to get the dog and myself home no matter what.

i knew of a woman who had a heart attack and when i spoke to her husband six months later in their house ,i said where are the two dogs she used to love and he said ´´óh she wanted them to be in heaven with her ´´ so they had them killed !!! church goers every week these ppl were ...

That's awful, surely the dogs would have been just as happy with the husband and he would also of had them for comfort and company. There are some very selfish people around.

Church freaks innit, got nowt against church goers but some are extremists in all religions.
