The "Thanks" button only shows to the person who started the thread and it can only be used once to thank whoever the OP thinks has given the best reply. That post will then change colour to show that it has been thanked.

We used to do the old trick of setting fire to a paper bag of shit on s'ones doorstep and then ringing the bell! Also used to tie a black thread to the knocker on the door and "knock" on the door while hiding nearby

I have the same trouble with the phone these days with the P***'s trying to sell me something. I never find out what, they get a torrent of abuse within 5 seconds.
