Tragedy in Anaga Mountains Empty Tragedy in Anaga Mountains

    Post by Gypsy Sat 3 Nov 2012 - 14:38

A group of 4 went climbing in the Anaga Mountains yesterday and when they did not return the emergency services were called. About 2330 hours on Friday the Fire Consortium de Tenerife began searching for the climbers down the ravine with the help of ropes, an operation that was complicated by the lack of light and the difficulty of the terrain. Three people were treated in situ for relatively minor injuries but the 4th person was dragged through high rising water in the Barranco de Carrizales. The body of the dead man was finally recovered by the mountain rescue helicopter.

They didn´t pick the best of weather to do it - wonder which one was called Chris Bonnington and how experienced were they? It is sad that someone lost their life but what about those who had to go out in bad weather and in the dark to try and find them. I always think the same when the lifeboats have to go out and rescue people.
