SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT ... If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labour. If you cross the Afghanistan border illegally, you get shot. Two Americans recently got eight years for crossing the Iranian border. But, if you cross the UK border illegally you get a job, a drivers license, food stamps 4 tesco, a place to live, NHS care, housing & child benefits, education, & a tax free business for 7 yrs ...No wonder we are a country in debt.

And when you land at a British airport you have to queue up for ages to have a foreigner more likely than not push your passport into the big brother machine scanner thing with Special Branch looking over there shoulders. I got pulled up by them once and they gave me a right grilling. Then theres the cop standing there with a friggin machine gun. Then theres the customs lot, thick as two short planks the lot of em. If I was smuggling drugs I would put them in a sleeve of fags, all they do is count them, never had one opened and inspected.

In Nicosia, if you cross from the Greek to the Turkish side and they stamp your passport, when you fly home, if you get the Greek officials in bad form, they'll refuse you passage and they'll tell you to go to your new "Turkish friends" and ask them to get you home. My friend had to get a military transport from Northern Cyprus to Istanbul and catch a regular flight there to home. Mind you, all this happened 17 years ago so I don't know if it's still the same.
