Horses located in appalling conditions in a property of Arona

Team Nature Protection Civil Guard of Playa de las Americas (SEPRONA) has inspected, and drawn up a statement on Wednesday, a small farm in Cabo Blanco, in the municipality of Arona.
Arona / result of the investigations carried out by a patrol of said Civil Guard Team, we investigated a farm in which animals were found several cabin. When checking the rooms of the same number of horses were found inside the enclosure where not entered any light as doors and windows were closed.

It was also observed that the horses did not have any food or water, feeders and waterers with completely empty. On the floor of the enclosure was lots of manure and mildew. The horses show signs of abuse and extreme thinness, one of them was even unable to sit because of the state of weakness in which he found himself. In general, the condition of the animals was serious neglect and lack of hygiene.

When asked by the agents to the owner of the property by the deplorable state of the animal, the owner said he was in poor health and could not therefore meet the animals, while his son helped him when he could. Furthermore, the operation lacks any documentation for the keeping of animals and the development of any activity related to livestock and food.

The Guardia Civil has the facts to the attention of the competent authorities in the matter so that it withdraws from animals. The rules have been applied in administrative complaints filed are listed in Law Animal Health Protection Act pets and Royal Decree 348/2000, of 10 March, which is incorporated into the legal system Directive 98 / 58/CE on the protection of animals kept for farming purposes (not the owner take appropriate measures to ensure the welfare of animals).

Public Defender demands urgent measures as imminent eviction sparks another suicide
Spain's Public Defender, ombudsman Soledad Becerril, has urged the Government to push through a moratorium to stop repossessions for people in vulnerable situations, after another person faced with imminent eviction committed suicide today.
Becerril first expressed her "deep regret" over the suicide of a woman in Barakaldo (Basque Country) who was about to be evicted from her home. She publicly sent her sincere condolences to the family and urged politicians to come to an agreement now that "can be introduced as a matter of urgency".
53-year-old Amaya Egaña, wife of an ex-PSOE councillor for Barakaldo, climbed up on a chair and threw herself out of the window of her fourth floor apartment this morning, just as the bailiffs arrived to carry out the threatened eviction. She died instantly.
The Public Defender asked representatives of the ruling Partido Popular party and the PSOE to meet on Monday morning and to put together new measures "that can be introduced immediately" to prevent evictions of this kind.
"The Government and the PSOE must give this topic absolute priority, and now", said Becerril. She said she believes the right way forward is to declare a moratorium on evictions for families facing social exclusion, those with young children, the disabled and the elderly.

Granada man facing eviction hangs himself
A 54-year-old man facing imminent eviction has been found hanged in the patio of his home in the Chana district of Granada today.
A spokesman for the Granada police confirmed that "around 9am this morning the body of Miguel Ángel Domingo, born in 1959, was found hanged at number 15, Calle Arzobispo Guerrero, in the Chana district of the city". The body was found in the patio of his home, which is opposite his brother's fruit and veg shop.
The body was discovered by police who arrived at the man's home at 9am to carry out an eviction order.
Police sources say an investigation into his death has been opened, although the working hypothesis is that it was suicide.

Hard yes I agree, but it doesn´t happen overnight, you know if you are starting to struggle so get rid of the animals, get them put to sleep, rehome them, take them to a rescue centre. But also give up the booze, the ciggies and stop eating crappy food and buying lottery tickets.

Bit harsh if I may be bold enough to say Gypsy. It is to do with the unemployment situation. Government, bankers and immigration. I know if Patsy lost her job we would very soon be on struggle street.

I agree with you Vince. We're in the same boat over here. If Eileen was laid off we'd struggle to keep the mortgage going.

Luckily I havent got a mortgage but I know we would soon be in trouble.

ROFL, you should know by now PS that I call a spade a shovel. I am sure though that many people will find things hard if a relied on income was suddenly lost but you have to somehow survive and if that means cutting out on takeaway meals, packets of cigarettes, bottles of wine and beer and give up going to bingo etc But we seem to hear of so many people who carry on doing all of this then complain their children are hungry, they can´t pay their rent and don´t know which way to turn. I feel sorry and will help (have helped with food donations) those who are genuinely surviving below the poverty line but there is no excuse for cruelty to animal, children or old people. And I have no time for people who cry poverty yet don´t give up anything they feel they have a right to have.

Dont think they get the same sort of benefits in Spain that we throw at the unemployed here.
