Devices exist, but they won’t spend the money, posted on this on another thread but can’t find it, they put the onus on the vehicle driver, but history shows it don’t work, the rail companies moan their tits off about it but do nothing, if you listen to the radio road reports there is barely a day goes past without a report of a bridge being hit...

Where I was brought up there was a railway bridge on the bus route to my house, if you got the No1 bus it took me almost to my door, but depending on which part of town you were coming from sometimes you had to get the No27, this was not good as the No27 terminated about two stops from where I lived, which left you a bit of a walk. The reason the No27 terminated where it did was because it was a double deck bus service and the No1 bus was a single deck service, but I do not know how many times the drivers of the No27 busses forgot to terminate the service just before the bridge and tried to drive through it, it go to be such a common event that passengers would vacate the top deck as the bus approached the turning terminus just before the bridge...

Since you’re so interested, to continue the story; trains had never ran on the line for years and eventually the tracks were lifted, it was a double bridge system meaning two bridges parallel to each other each carrying two rail tracks, some years after the track had been lifted the twin bridges were demolished... and two new bridges built in their place with the road being excavated down a few feet to allow higher vehicles/busses to pass through, to this day, track has never been relayed over the bridges... what a waste of money...

Bet it's a cycle track now. All our old railway lines are, one of their better ideas I reckon. Open Top Bus... 294053457

Correct, it was to be used in the Edinburgh tram system, but since the full route has been cut back its bikes and graffiti...

They should make them private roads for rich people, just so they dont have to mix with the plebs,
Only gold plated tax discs can use them,
