The new Canarian Oceanografic centre was officially opened yesterday by minister for science Cristina Garmendia.
The purpose built unit which is located on the road to Las Teresitas next to the Dársena Pesquera (Fish Quay) in Santa Cruz, cost more than 15 million euros and will provide 80 jobs.
Garmendia confirmed that the centre will help to confirm Spain’s position internationally as one of the leading investigators into marine science and fishing resources. Full story at News in the Sun
