Old Photos and Videos of Tenerife

Cos you lot are old, you like looking at old stuff so I hope you enjoy these. The are taken in and around Tablada which is between further on than Abadas down the TF1 but not as far as Puertito de Guimar

Fascinating that. They looked so happy even though they were "Franco's children". I can't help thinking that was a well-to-do family though, they had a car and a boat, kids had shoes on their feet...great stuff Gypsy!

Spanish balconies... recall some years back when on holiday in mainland Spain a new hotel was being built next to ours, have never trusted Spanish balconies after what I witnessed, horizontal shuttering was erected the area of the balcony, then bricks were laid out on it as if you were building a vertical wall, but horizontally, the only thing holding the bricks together, mortar, no steel reinforcement...
A few days later when the mortar was dry, the shuttering was removed and hey presto a balcony !!!
Once plastered and tiled plus a metal railing fitted it looked the part...

Never! You're kidding?

They never used to worry about safety for the builders either. No scaffolding and nowt to stop you from falling off the edge. Things have improved a bit recently but no building work going on anyway.

100% true...
From the top of the building there were scaffolding poles jutting out, attached to them were ropes with buckets full of sand attached, initially I could not work out what their purpose was, then sussed, that was where they built the balconies out to, Mickey and Mini mouse stuff....
