Great, my daughter is a red head and was bullied quite a lot. I didn´t know until just a few years ago that lots of people call them an anagram of Ginger - what could be further apart than a pale skinned red head and what is commonly associated with the other word. ? People are stupid in their prejudices.
I hope this give the gingers (I know loads and they are all lovely people) the confidence to 'wear it with pride'
