Was looking a report on this. It had some U.N. refugee spokespeople saying and I quote" Many people from N. Africa in particular, came to Europe in the 1950/60's without the proper documentation. These people found jobs and were eventually assimilated into the labour force with no great hardship. No one need die in these situations any more. Its Europe's "closed door" policy that needs to change.
Is this guy for real??? Europe's labour force needed a mass influx of workers in the 50/60's to rebuild after WW2. These days , we have an already saturated labour market without any extras. What will happen when these people cant find work? More asylum seekers draining an already creaking tax system. BTW, I don't blame them for trying to improve their lives, but if the EU allowed everyone in, we would all suffer at a time when poverty, homelessness and suicide and depression are causing huge problems. Rather than get rid of the "closed door" policy, I would enforce it to an even greater extent. If the U.N. wants change, I suggest that it starts first with its own quango i.e. the security council, which can do SFA the way it is set up with the 5 permanent members having vetoes. The only refugee that would be acceptable to me would be those from war torn countries, where their lives are imminently at risk.
